The top surface of the shingle is embedded with a layer of ceramic granules, creating color and texture.

BUILDING A QUALITY ROOF

When you are getting a new roof, you are not just replacing the shingles. You need a complete roofing system for the perfect combination of beauty and protection. From inspecting the deck, to installation quality accessories, to ensuring there is balanced ventilation, understanding the entire system is key to long lasting peace of mind.

1. Deck : 

To start, we remove the old shingles and roofing material down to the deck. Then, evaluate the deck for damage and make any necessary repairs. 

2. Ice & Water: 

First, the Ice & Water self-sealing underlayment adheres to the roof deck and seals around nail penetrations, protecting rakes, eaves and critical flashings from wind, rain, ice, and snow trying to penetrate your roofing system.

3. Underlayment: 

Next, the primary roofing underlayment is unrolled and fastened to the roof deck. Synthetic underlayment forms a secondary leak-proof barrier.

4. Starter Shingles: 

Before applying the field shingles, a starter shingle course along the perimeter of the roof. Starter shingles are installed at the eave of your roof to help prevent shingle blow-off during high winds. 

5. Shingles: 

After the starter shingles, Pinnacle Pristine High Performance Architectural Shingles are installed. They come in a variety of styles, colors, and designs. Atlas shingles are able to withstand 130 mph wind while the Scotchgard Protector will prevent ugly stains.

6. Ventilation: 

Part of any well-designed roofing system is balanced ventilation.  Balanced ventilation, comprised of both intake and exhaust, keeps air moving under the roof deck to help prevent premature aging of the asphalt shingles. 

7. Hip & Ridge Shingles: 

The finishing touch to your roof install is hip and ridge shingles, installed to help protect against leaks and high winds at these vulnerable areas, and also to cover up ventilation products. Hip and ridge shingles are designed to match the field shingles and give your home an attractive, finished look.
